In Disney’s Moana, one of our discoveries is the amazing number of actors of Polynesian descent we have…

House was born in 1971 in Auckland, New Zealand and raised in Kamo, Whangarei by her adoptive Glaswegian immigrant parents John and Sheila House.[1] She is of Māori (Ngati Mutunga and Ngai Tahu) and European/Pakeha descent.

“While she may not necessarily possess traditional Hollywood good looks, House has an undeniably distinct persona onscreen and exhibits just the kind of charisma that could prove the foundation for an enduring career.”

Well, I think she’s awesome, and that we need to redefine what we consider “good looks”. Actually, if you look at much of the stuff from the BBC, they seem to be more concerned with casting character than mere pretty.

Some other great characters in the film…
