Stop motion animation is done with models that are highly articulated, you pose them, shoot one frame of film, and do that another 23 times for each second of film…

Here’s a fun take on the idea of stop motion: Breyer Stablemates (fit in your hand models) galloping out of a “canyon”. Of course, you can’t change the poses, they aren’t articulated, but clever use of herd and positions of individual horses gives some fun movement to this video.

Best to nail the camera to an immoveable surface with a very short tripod…
